At Perkins Restaurant & Bakery,
Charity Begins At Home

For Perkins Restaurants & Bakeries, the saying "charity begins at home" could not ring more true. Since 1990, Perkins and its franchisees have successfully raised millions of dollars for Give Kids the World, a Florida based foundation that operates Kids' Village, a magical complex near Walt Disney World which provides incredible six-day Florida vacations … including airfare, accommodations, food and tickets to local attractions to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. If you can imagine a world where ice cream is endless, and having fun is a full-time endeavor, what you have imagined is a reality at the Give Kids The World Village. Here, dreams really do come true.

In addition to its annual fundraising efforts, Perkins also operates the Gingerbread House, a 300-seat restaurant located in the heart of Give Kids the World Village, where they serve over 200,000 free meals to Give Kids the World guests a year. In 1999 the Gingerbread House nearly doubled its capacity with the opening of the Cupcake addition, an expansion also made possible by the enthusiastic efforts of countless employees of the Perkins chain.

The year 2005 marks the 15th consecutive year that Perkins Restaurants and Bakeries in 34 states around the country have spearheaded fundraising activities to support Give Kids the World. In addition, franchises and company employees will stage a variety of creative and community-involving fundraising activities ranging from raffles and car washes, to bake sales, carnivals and golf tournaments. In the lobbies of most Perkins restaurants, customers and employees can also deposit spare change in "Gingerbread House Banks".
