Charity Begins At Home

MEMPHIS, TN, January 15, 2004 -- For Perkins Restaurants & Bakeries, the saying "charity begins at home" could not ring more true. Since 1990, Perkins and its franchisees have successfully raised millions of dollars for Give Kids the World, a Florida based foundation that operates Kids' Village, a magical complex near Walt Disney World which provides incredible six-day Florida vacations … including airfare, accommodations, food and tickets to local attractions to terminally ill children and their families.

During Perkins fundraising campaign, restaurants throughout the chain stage a variety of creative activities ranging from raffles and car washes to bake sales, carnivals and golf tournaments. All designed to raise money for Give Kids the World, these programs often involve the entire community and are successful due to the tireless volunteer efforts of dedicated employees. In the lobbies of most Perkins restaurants, customers can also deposit spare change every day of the year in "Gingerbread House Banks" and many employees participate in automatic payroll deduction programs. These activities generate both enthusiasm and cash, all of which contributes to the successful operation of the Gingerbread House, a 300-seat restaurant located in the heart of Give Kids the World Kid's Village, where Perkins serves up over 255,000 free meals a year. In 2003 alone, 5,553 families visited the Village and dined at the Gingerbread House.

Every day Perkins investment of time, money and effort makes a difference for children and families visiting Give Kids the World."

To date, Perkins and its franchisees have successfully raised over $7.2 million to Give Kids The World.
