Perkins Florida Restaurants to Join in "Dine Out For Disaster Relief Day"

Benefitting the Victims of Florida's Recent Hurricanes

MEMPHIS, TN, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2004 -- The Perkins Restaurant & Bakery chain is proud to announce that all sixty of its Florida locations will participate in the "Dine Out For Disaster Relief Day" on Thursday, October 14th. During that day, the restaurants will donate a percentage of sales to Governor Jeb Bush's Florida Hurricane Relief Fund, and all monies raised will directly benefit the victims of Florida's recent hurricanes.

"Our guests and employees in Florida have suffered tremendously as a result of the hurricanes. Perkins is committed to helping their communities rebuild," said Wayne Walburg, Senior Director of Operations for Perkins. The company's involvement in the Dine Out For Disaster Relief Day is just part of Perkins long-standing, overall commitment to supporting charities and organizations that help those in need. According to Steve Klass, Senior Director of Franchise Operations, just this past August, Perkins marked a major milestone when it served its 2 millionth free meal at the Gingerbread House, a whimsical restaurant funded and operated by Perkins, located in the heart of Give Kids The World, a non-profit resort based in Orlando, Florida. Give Kids The World offers terminally ill children weeklong, all expense paid vacations to some of the State's most popular attractions. Perkins has been an ardent supporter and active fundraiser for Give Kids The World for well over a decade.

The Florida Restaurant Association, SYSCO Food Service and the Office of Governor Jeb Bush have declared Thursday, October 14 as Dine Out for Disaster Relief Day - a day when more than 1,000 restaurants and their employees across Florida will unite efforts to help the victims of three catastrophic hurricanes that hit the state in a 45-day period.
